Professional responsibilities
The Technical work has been concentrated in two distinct fields: psychoacoustic research and vigilance
Theoretical direction, laboratory and field research in most areas of psychoacoustics. This work includes laboratory studies of noisiness of transportation noises: impulsive sounds, detectability, intensiveness and annoyance of intermittent or continuous noises.
Low frequency critical bandwidth, speech quality, intelligibility.
Studies include epidemiological analyses of aircraft noises on health, social surveys on community and classrooms, electrophysiological and behavioural studies of sleep quality carried out at home along motorways and airport.
Recent analysis includes neural network to classify acoustical factors in detectability and annoyance.
Consultancies and expertises for several foreign institutions
Research about vigilance at the wheel begins in 1986.
Human factors work has been carried out in areas such as variability of reaction time, effectiveness of computer generated tones, signal localisation and detectability, construction of human performance test batteries.
