Qualification/ position

  • Ph.D in Applied Economics from Paris University
  • Research Director at the Transport & Environment Laboratory of INRETS
  • Responsible of a 12 person-team (psychologists, economist, statistician, engineer), for research on the environmental issues (noise, air pollution, greenhouse effect, visual effects ..) related to transportation systems and infrastructures.

Special functions

  • Chairman of former WG 2 "Dose/Effect" of the European Commission (EC)
  • Member of WG "Health & Socio-Economic Aspects" of the EC
  • Co-chair of the Team 9 "Regulation & Standards" of the International Commission of Biological Effects of Noise (ICBEN).
  • Member of national and international standardization groups on noise (AFNOR, ISO)

Experience concerning research on noise (since 1975)

  • Extended field studies on transportation noise annoyance (rail, road and aircraft)
  • Field studies on social cost of noise
  • Extensive expert reports on noise issues for OECD and EC.

International collaboration

EU-funded research on noise (currently SEFA project)
